I was in need of a distraction {since my very handsome distraction had to make his way back up North} on this particular Monday morning and, as it turned out, my BFF, Julie was a having a rough {for lack of a better word} morning as well. When there is an element of sadness in the air, there really is no better cure than to surround yourself with some of your best girlfriends - so I packed up my Sex and the City DVD box set, my friendship bracelet kit from my Secret Santa {aka Terin} at work, Julie's Wedding Notebook {in case we decided to be productive and get some planning done. we weren't and we didn't}, and 1 {ok, 2} bottles of champagne and headed over to Julie's in Sunset Beach. True to typical fashion of what we like to refer to as "Bestie Time" {I know, we're pretty cool} - when there are two of us, the third shows up not too long after. Sarah {3rd Bestie} showed up about 30 minutes after I did. With another bottle of champagne. Damn-it.
Needless to say, this day turned into an awesome, girlie day involving a Sex and the City Marathon, me {attempting} to make {very complicated} friendship bracelets {I don't know how those little girls just whip them up}, some girlie mags, and {a'hem} a few glasses of champagne/cranberry juice cocktails. OH - and did I mention Julie and Sarah have matching roller blades now? Yes, you read correctly - matching roller blades in which they "rolled in" together to go pick up scratchers {their thing, not mine} at the local liquor mart. I don't have a picture of this {I'm new to blogging and still learning to be prepared} but I will definitely capture these blading babes one day soon and report back.
Anyway, a day that started out to be kind of a bummer, turned out to be not so bad after all. ESPECIALLY at the end, when Julie volunteered to whip up some 'family' dinner - I must say, I envy her innate cooking abilities and general interest in trying new recipes. Anyway, Terry (Julie's fiancé and good friend of both mine and Sarah's} and I headed off to the store to pick up the ingredients to get things going. Julie did most of the actual cooking - I think Sarah helped mold the balls a bit {she always does that}, Terry made his signature salad dressing, and I chopped the vegetables for the salad - what? AND I cleaned the kitchen after.
Sarah + Julie
Needless to say, dinner was a hit - Baked Spaghetti Squash seasoned with olive oil, butter, and a bit of salt {so, so good and a new dish for me}, homemade turkey meatballs with parsley and feta cheese topped with marinara sauce, and a lovely garden salad with homemade dressing.
I promise my picture + word correlation will improve as I get farther along into my blogging habit.
